<h1>Sr. Software Engineer</h1> <h2>The Team + The Role</h2> <p>Pendo's engineering teams build the product experiences that help customers understand, improve, and act on product usage data. This team is focused on AI-powered features that turn raw usage signals into automatic, actionable suggestions, reducing the manual work customers need to do before they can get value from Pendo.</p> <p>As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help shape and ship intelligent product experiences from discovery through delivery. You will work full-stack with a lean toward frontend, using TypeScript, Vue.js, backend services, and AI coding tools to build high-quality features on a small, fast-moving team. This role also owns product judgment: validating problems with customers, sizing opportunities, defining success metrics, and making pragmatic tradeoffs in ambiguous spaces.</p> <p>This role is based in our Sheffield office.</p> <h2>What this looks like day-to-day</h2> <ul> <li><strong>AI-powered feature delivery:</strong> Build and ship features that use AI to turn product usage data into actionable suggestions for customers. You will work end to end across the experience, with attention to quality, usability, and the unique failure modes of AI-backed products.</li> <li><strong>Full-stack engineering:</strong> Own delivery across the frontend and backend, with a strong lean toward TypeScript, Vue.js, DOM-level work, component architecture, and in-browser data capture. You will reason about backend services and APIs while building polished, reliable customer-facing experiences.</li> <li><strong>Product discovery:</strong> Help validate problems, shape scope, and test direction before and while building. You will join customer calls, test prototypes, and use real feedback to make sure the team is solving meaningful problems.</li> <li><strong>Success metrics and iteration:</strong> Define what success looks like for the features you build and use product usage data to guide iteration. You will not just close tickets; you will measure whether the work is creating the intended customer impact.</li> <li><strong>AI-enabled development:</strong> Use AI coding tools such as Cursor and Claude Code as a core part of your daily workflow. You will apply strong engineering judgment, review rigor, and accountability to AI-generated code just as you would to your own.</li> <li><strong>AI product quality:</strong> Ship AI-backed features with careful attention to latency, hallucination, inconsistent output, and user trust. You will help ensure intelligent experiences are useful, understandable, and reliable for customers.</li> <li><strong>Cross-functional collaboration:</strong> Work directly with product, design, and fellow engineers in a small team where ownership and leverage matter. You will help make pragmatic tradeoffs against ambiguous, fast-moving requirements instead of waiting for a fully defined spec.</li> <li><strong>Engineering standards:</strong> Raise the quality of the team through code review, mentorship, and unblocking teammates. You have built something with these technologies, not just used them as tools.</li> <li>Full-stack engineering experience with a frontend lean, including strong TypeScript skills, comfort working with the DOM, and the ability to reason about backend services.</li> <li>3+ years of experience building and scaling web applications.</li> <li>Strong product judgment, including comfort owning ambiguous problems, shaping scope, and making decisions without a fully specified brief.</li> <li>Experience defining success metrics for a feature and iterating based on real usage data.</li> <li>Experience engaging directly with customers or end users to validate problems and assess impact after launch.</li> <li>Strong grasp of software architecture, design principles, and API development.</li> <li>Clear communication skills and the ability to mentor others, unblock teammates, and support the growth of the engineering team.</li> </ul> <h2>Nice-to-haves</h2> <ul> <li>Experience working as, or closely alongside, a product manager, including writing specs, prioritizing a roadmap, or running discovery.</li> <li>Familiarity with product analytics tools such as Pendo, Amplitude, or Mixpanel to measure feature impact.</li> <li>Experience designing or running experiments, including A/B tests or betas, to validate product decisions.</li> <li>Experience with browser DOM inspection or automation.</li> <li>Familiarity with Model Context Protocol or building tools for LLM agents.</li> <li>Familiarity with real-time data pipelines or streaming architectures.</li> <li>Accessibility experience.</li> <li>Passion for continuous learning and sharing insights with the team.</li> </ul> <h2>About Pendo</h2> <p>Pendo was founded in 20
