Where the Tech Jobs Are: 6,000+ Live Listings Analyzed (August 2026)

The tech slice of the market

Out of 39,187 live listings in WeZoom's jobs index this week, 6,069 are software, IT, data, product or engineering roles. This report analyzes that subset: where those jobs are, how remote they really are, which titles employers post, and which skills they name.

The single most useful number for tech job seekers: tech's advertised-remote share is 16.3% — almost double the all-industry average of 8.6%. Tech remains the most remote-friendly sector in the index, but five out of six tech listings still name an office.

Why Poland leads

Poland's lead is partly real and partly measurement. Real: Poland has spent a decade becoming Europe's engineering back-office — nearshoring hub, strong CS education pipeline, and a deep senior-developer market centered on Warsaw, Kraków and Wrocław. Measurement: our index includes NoFluffJobs, Poland's specialist IT board, so Polish tech listings are captured more completely than most markets (see methodology).

Both halves matter to a job seeker. If you're an EU-based developer open to hybrid work, Poland's tech market is the deepest pool of openings in our index right now — and salaries in PLN have converged toward Western European rates for senior roles.

What the titles say: engineers, data, and the AI wave

Counting words across all 6,069 tech titles:

• Roughly 1 in 4 titles contains "engineer" — by far the dominant identity
• "Data" appears in 420 titles — data engineering and analytics remain a hiring constant
• "AI" appears in 330 titles — about 1 in every 18 tech listings is now explicitly an AI role
• "Developer" (399), "architect" (204) and "analyst" (194) round out the top identities
• "Manager" appears in 475 — engineering management demand is healthy

The skills that actually appear in listings

Across the full index, the most-tagged programming and infrastructure skills this month are Python (420 mentions), SQL (202), Java (147), Kubernetes (146), cloud (144), React (131), AWS (122) and TypeScript (119). Two patterns worth noting:

Python's lead is structural. It spans backend, data engineering, ML and automation listings simultaneously — it is the only language that appears across every tech sub-category. If you work in data or ML and Python isn't prominent on your resume, you're leaving match score on the table.

Infrastructure skills cluster. Kubernetes, cloud and AWS tags travel together in the same listings. DevOps/platform roles expect the full set — listing one without the others reads as junior to both the ATS keyword match and the human reviewer.

How to use this data in your next application

Mirror the posting's exact vocabulary. ATS keyword matching is literal. "K8s" on your resume does not match "Kubernetes" in the listing. Before you apply, run your resume and the job description through our free keyword scanner — it shows exactly which terms from the posting are missing.

Quantify against the 1-in-4 problem. When a quarter of all tech titles are "engineer," the title alone differentiates nothing. Methodology

Snapshot of WeZoom's live jobs index, August 26–27, 2026. The tech subset (6,069 listings) covers categories matching software, IT, engineering, DevOps, data, design and product across 17 public sources — public company ATS feeds (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, SmartRecruiters, Teamtailor), specialist boards (NoFluffJobs for Poland), national boards (Sweden's JobTech), remote-first boards, and the Adzuna API in 13 markets. The classification is category-based and includes some adjacent engineering roles (e.g. field and automotive technicians); title-word counts are computed within this subset. Source mix over-represents markets where we index specialist boards directly (notably Poland). "Advertised remote" counts only employer-flagged remote listings. This is our index, not a census; percentages rounded.
